Metaversenethnography in Education
Wings of the research are still flying between theory and practices, claims and measured facts, idealism and materialism.. These two wings are still “qualitative” and “quantitative”. With the rise of algorithmic hegemony on the side of the quantitative wing, the measurements and its applications have been changed and developed a lot. Artificial intelligences, cloud technology, massification of data and data collections let us to measure the huge amounts of concepts and agents.
Wings with their methodological logical frames and paradigm have been holding multiple feathers called as methods. I am always encountered same questions. Which method should be used or adopted? The answer is that it depends of your research questions, research design, data collections and your research emancipation. It seems that I remember and revoke the same art and same quote to explain the methodology. That art piece is Angel Nevus.
Walter Benjamin ( 1892–1928) was a cultural critique, German-Jewish philosopher, collector, writer and for me the Flâneur. In the ninth thesis of his 1940 essay “Theses on the Philosophy of History”. He interprets this art as the angel of history. The methodology emerges from the struggles and conflict of the practices, ideas and multitudes of everything in the canon of human beings. An angel is observing to changes, interactions and communications with the centrality of questions that are ground for contemplating. The angel’s eyes are ethical witness of perceptions, the mouth is open for the critical reflections but the wings are wide and open to make the movement possible to looking current and past but flying towards to the future. I would say that the science is necessary to make the society more equitable and rational for us so this necessity creates the power to have this wide and strong wings with many feathers.
All of the methods in the both sides are having new features, concepts, techniques, applications and more. Now, we are going to create the multifaced, and multifeatured meta with the verses. These verses might be replications of our material world, or these verses could be authentic interactions with multiple practices. It seems that the new storms are at the neck of our angels. We are feeling that it is coming and we have been discussing the possibilities of Beings, Post-Beings and Multiple-Beings.
In this new world, we are going to collect the data, sort them, analyze them and inquiry about them. The point is that please keep your eyes critically open, let your voice rise, your mind awaken with both experiences.
